RASTAFARI COUNCIL GHANA

The Rastafari Council, Ghana was established on 2nd March, 2009 following a series of meetings involving some of the foundation brethren and sistren in Ghana. It is comprised of the various mansions of Rastafari in Ghana.  The Council was launched by Dr Yao Graham of Third World Network at the Ghana International Press Centre. This followed numerous attempts in the past to establish unity among Rasses and the various mansions.  The Council has an Executive committee that governs the activities of the Council with a number of Committees handling specific portfolios.  Currently the Council is engaged in operating the Black Star Line Cooperative Credit Union and will engage in a series of capacity building workshops for Rassae.  The Council will also embark on public education programmes to correct the erroneous impression members of the public have about Rastafari.  The Council is currently engaged in building a database of all Rastafari in the country with the intention of generating a directory of all businesses and professionals to facilitate networking within the Rastafari Council.

Aims and Objectives

  • To promote Unity among the various mansions and Rastafarians in Ghana
  • Represent Rastafari to Government and similar identifiable bodies
  • Provide a one stop solution to all who repatriate to Ghana and Africa where necessary
  • Seek the mutual interest of all Rastafari in Ghana where possible, providing financial or material support to needy Rastafarians
  • Youth Development and Educational programmes
